After being called into the SBS Bank Southland Stags last season as a loan player from Otago, three cap Stag Ben Morris has signed for the SBS Bank Southland Stags in the 2022 Bunnings NPC.
The 197cm lock Christs College Alumni from Cheviot came to the rescue last season following several injuries in the Stags locking stocks. Ben immediately impressed and showed his potential in NPC following his time for North Otago in the Heartland Championship.
Morris, 25, is a natural leader in the way he plays, having two colts and two division one titles with Lincoln to his name, and most recently, captained Taieri to the 2021 Otago Premier Championship.
Taieri’s loss is Pirates-Old Boys gain, with Morris linked with the Premier club for the upcoming Go Bus Senior Rugby Season.
SBS Bank Southland Stags Coach David Hall is excited to have Ben back in the mix.
“Ben joined us late in the season last year and made every post a winner. He is a smart rugby player and has a great work rate. We are looking forward to Ben arriving down and getting into his work through club rugby, high performance training and then the Stags season.”
