For adult store CocoBella, Covid-19 has given owner Tracey Stenhouse a chance for a fresh new look. A week before lockdown a massive wind storm ripped the front signage off the building, but unfortunately the ‘big lady on top’ wasn’t harmed.
Having been subject to public criticism for her taste in signage, the storm could’ve provided the perfect opportunity for a new one – had it been an insurance job.
“She’s expensive to replace. So I’m trying to get a sponsor,” she said.
The new signage – now ‘CocoBella Adult Play & Lingerie,’ went up last Friday – just in time for level 3, although the doors won’t be open just yet – it’s still only online selling for now.
She said sales had increased prior to lockdown, and the past two months in particular.
But having the doors shut as well as the online store, (adult toys are not considered essential items), without the Government support “would’ve been a different situation.
“My instore trading is my main income and the online is just the icing on the cake.”
Her collection of luxury lingerie was a popular seller but now hopefully with the new signage, people would have more of an idea of what was inside.
“It’s very hard to be tasteful but letting people know you sell 12-inch dongs,” she said.
Anybody walking past in the next few days will also notice a new talking companion doll in the window, which you can take home for just $3200.
“She even talks and has the most beautiful eyes,” Tracey said.
Businesses interested in taking up the sponsorship offer for the new large sign should get in touch with Tracey.
She also wants to thank local business Speedy Signs for getting her sorted so quickly.
