Sad news from the entertainment world.

English actor Derek Fowlds has passed away aged 82.

Derek Fowlds had a long career from the early ’60’s across stage, screen and TV.

Some of a certain age might remember him coping with an irrepressible and irresistible  Basil Brush  (Boom Boom!). Derek Fowlds then went on to play Bernard Woolley in Yes, Minister and Yes, Prime Minister alongside the late Paul Eddington and Sir Nigel Hawthorne.

Mr Derek, as Basil Brush referred to him then appeared in the English Police drama Heartbeat in which he appeared from start to finish, 18 seasons.

Here’s a clip from Yes, Minister with Derek as Bernard explaining The Explanatory Note to an an exasperated Jim Hacker (Paul Eddington).

RIP Derek Fowlds
