A Mal’s Memory Thursday Throw Back Special Edition
I was thinking about the debacle that was the recent general elections in the UK. You where PM Theresa May went to the electorate in a bid to strengthen the Tory’s position in the British Government and it all went pear shaped.
Well a similar thing happened here and it wasn’t that long ago. It was this day 33 years ago that the country awoke to news that we were to have an early general election, and that all went pear shaped for the Prime Minister of the day.
Late the night before on a cold Wellington night, PM Rob Muldoon came out of his office to make this slurred announcement.
