A woman was located with serious injuries outside a service station on Tay Street about 10.45pm.
The woman was taken to hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
A 30-year-old woman has been charged in relation to the incident, she is remanded in custody and due to reappear in the Invercargill District Court on 13 June on charges of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, unlawfully takes a motor vehicle and other kidnapping.
Police are in contact with the victim and she has been referred to Victim support.
