Police can now confirm the 28 year-old man who died after an incident on Dee St on Saturday evening as being (due to interim name surpression Name of victim has been removed), of Invercargill.
Police are continuing their investigation and, along with ESR members, are still at the address today conducting a scene examination.
Members of the investigation team are still speaking with a number of individuals in relation to the circumstances which lead to the man’s death.
Police have also arrested a 17 year-old man in relation to the incident and have charged him with assault.
He appeared in the Invercargill District Court today.
As the matter is before the courts, Police are unable to make any further comment about the details of the incident.
Breaking: About 7.15 pm on Saturday the 17th of October, Police were called to an altercation on Dee street , Invercargill
A 28 year old man was taken to Invercargill hospital and has subsequently died of his injuries
A homicide Investigation has been commenced.
Witness’s are being spoken to helping Police with their inquiries and the crime scene has been cordoned off.
The alleged offender is currently at the Invercargill police station and police are not looking for anyone else in relation to the death.
Charges are yet to be laid.
