Updated: Police searching the Forest Hill Scenic Reserve area for missing man Rhys Dunn have this afternoon found a body.

Police can confirm that the body is that of Mr Dunn.

Next of kin have been informed.

The family is being supported by Police and Victim Support.

There are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death, which has been referred to the Coroner.

Police would like to thank volunteers who joined officers in the search.

Tuesday 19th July

Southern District Police are looking to locate 21-year-old man Rhys Dunn who has been missing since Friday 15 July.

Police have concerns for his safety and wellbeing and want to hear from anyone who may be able to help them find him.

Mr Dunn was last seen in Queenstown at 11am on Friday wearing light blue jeans and a black V-neck jumper with a grey t-shirt underneath. He is described as European, is 185cm tall and of thin build.

Mr Dunn’s vehicle a black Toyota Corolla Hatch with the registration CDN814 has been found in the carpark of the Forest Hill Scenic Reserve, Southland. Police and SAR volunteers have searched the area but have not found Mr Dunn. A full search of the area will begin in the morning.

The carpark where the car was found is the start of the Dereck Turnbull walking track and is used by many walkers and runners daily. Police believe the car may have been in the carpark since Friday and would like to hear from anyone who may have seen the vehicle or Mr Dunn in the area.
