On Wednesday, 27th September, Rugby Park witnessed an electrifying match between the Southland Stags and Bay of Plenty. In a thrilling face-off, Bay of Plenty secured a slim win with a final score of 25-23, keeping fans riveted until the very last moment.

Beyond the spirited play, the evening was marked by the Stags unveiling their exclusive jerseys only as they entered the playing field. This surprise move was all in support of The Hawthorndale Care Village, a forthcoming institution dedicated to specialized dementia care. The jerseys, adorned with the logos of team partners, symbolized the Stags’ steadfast dedication to their community.

After the match, the Stags continued their commitment by autographing these special jerseys. They are now up for auction in the following weeks, and all proceeds will go towards the Hawthorndale Care Village project, emphasizing the drive to assist those impacted by dementia.

Moreover, the chance to pre-order these unique jerseys was snatched up by fans. With the support of Paladin Sports, $10 from each jersey purchase will be channeled to Hawthorndale Care Village, ensuring significant backing for the facility’s commendable cause.

Though the Stags experienced a close loss in the game, their endeavours in backing the Hawthorndale Care Village are a significant victory for the community.
