Council has appointed its new Building Services Manager, Brendan Monaghan, who will start on April 4. He takes over from Simon Tonkin, who has moved to another position within the Council after 20 years in the role.
Invercargill City Council’s Director of Environmental and Planning Services, Pamela Gare, said Mr Monaghan was coming to them from his current role as ICC’s Parks Operations Manager, and has nearly 20 years’ experience in the construction industry.
“I’m really delighted to announce the appointment. He has worked for Calder Stewart and McRaeway Homes and is an experienced manager. Mr Monaghan will be managing a really busy team which has a high public profile. The building industry is always under time and pressure constraints, and Council strives to provide a quality professional service; his role will be mixing those two tensions.”
“One of his key projects as Manager will be to move Building Services from a paper based system to an electronic system. For example, we will implement electronic forms and payments and use tablets when taking inspection notes. This change will allow us to provide better customer service,” Mrs Gare said.
