A large group of Southland nurses have begun a day of industrial action in protest over pay and working conditions.

The striking nurses are walking  from Southland Hospital to the Tay Street corner.

The strike action which started at 11am and continues to 7 this evening comes after a revised pay offer from district health boards was rejected.

Pay negotiations will resume after today’s strike action.
