Gilmour Rosebowl

Tuatapere has retained the Gilmour Rosebowl after a challenge from Invercargill.

Results were (Tuatapere names first): Brownyn O’Brien lost to Fiona Murray 1 down, Lynnette Chambers squared with Jo Wadworth, Fiona Gray beat Raewyn Hartley, Tina Van Engelen beat Heather Chadderton 3/2 and Glenda Templeton beat Judith Russell 2up.

The win means Tuatapere will lock the trophy away until February, when they face their next challenge from Wyndham.

Drummond Christmas/New Year Tournament

Drummond Golf Club will be the place to be on Friday 27 December, when it hosts its annual Christmas/New Year tournament, sponsored by Mitre 10 Winton.

The tournament, open to anyone with a handicap who is a full member of a golf club, is a stableford format with a 1pm tee off time.

With limited spots available, it’s best to secure your place fast.

Junior Christmas Tournament

All junior golfers are encouraged to head along to Invercargill Golf Club on Monday 16 December for a Junior Christmas Tournament.

The tournament is a nine hole format, but also includes fun games for children who are just wanting to have a go.

Tee off is at 1pm, the cost is just $5 per player, and registrations should be made before December 11 by email to [email protected]

Riversdale Junior Tournament

Seventeen young golfers enjoyed a fun junior tournament at Riversdale on Sunday.

Mia Atkinson won the girls section, Jack Smaill won the boys section off the yellow tees with Jake Slater second, and Noah McGarry won the boys section off the green tees with Sam Smaill second and Marshall Croad third.

National Interprovincial

It was a tough week for Southland’s senior men’s team at the New Zealand Interprovincial at Hastings last week, but younger members of the team gained some valuable experience.
Southland finished 13th, with a highlight being Matt Tautari’s 100th game for Southland which came in the team’s win over Aorangi.
