FANS of trains, cars and all things miniature will find something to delight in at the Southern Railway and Modellers Club model railway and car show this weekend.
“They will get value for their dollar,” show convener Bob Dunstone said.
The show will feature 17 model train layouts of varying scales as well as static displays of model cars and doll houses. There will also be raffles held throughout the weekend, a second-hand sales table and a model and toy retailer on site.
Among the larger model railway layouts on display will be one modelled on Southland’s landscape which had featured in an international magazine, Mr Dunstone said.
All the exhibitors were from Southland except for one from Central Otago, he said.
The event will be the club’s fourth biennial show and fundraiser, with all proceeds this year to be donated to Hospice Southland, he said.
When the event was last held in 2013 it attracted about 700 people over two days.
The turnout was well up on previous shows, so the organisers were expecting a good crowd to attend this year, Mr Dunstone said.
* Southern Railway and Modellers Club, Southland Masonic Centre, Forth St, March 19 and 20 from 9am to 4pm. Entry $1 children under 14 years and senior citizens, $5 adults, family pass for two adults and two children $10.
