For months, the worst-kept secret in Invercargill has been that JB Hi-Fi is coming to town. But where?

Back in September, whatsoninvers.nz reported that the retailer was in talks with developer Gaire Thompson to lease part of the old Farmers store on Dee Street. Since then, the rumour mill has been in overdrive, but nothing has been confirmed.

Now, a store manager role for JB Hi-Fi Invercargill has been listed on job site Seek, with the location indicating Invercargill Central.

whatsoninvers.nz reached out to Invercargill Central manager Kelvin Mooney for comment, but we were told “no comment.” We also reached out to developer Gaire Thompson, owner of the Farmers building, who said that they are “in talks all the time with various businesses” and had no update for us.

So, for now, it’s a waiting game. But all signs point to JB Hi-Fi opening a store in Invercargill in the near future.
