Free Golf Lessons
New or beginner golfers looking to swing into the new year with some form are encouraged to take advantage of Golf Southland’s free Get Into Golf sessions.
Four free coaching sessions, designed specifically for new or beginner golfers, will be held at Donovan Park on Monday 10th February, Thursday 13thFebruary, Monday 17th February and Thursday 20th February from 5.30pm to 7pm each night.
The sessions are taken by local professionals and are all about supporting those new to the game to get off to their best possible start.

Junior Summer Series
A three-round Junior Nine Hole Summer Series will tee off on 31st January at Queens Park Golf Club and is open to any junior keen to take part.
The series will also include a round at Invercargill Golf Club on 14th February and one at Greenacres on March 13th; all tee-off times are at 4pm.
There are overall prizes as well as prizes each round, entry is $5 per person per event, and entries can be made by emailing [email protected]
The first round of the ILT Challenge; a three-round competition between the three Invercargill-based clubs, was played at SBS Bank Invercargill Golf Club at the weekend.
The home club took advantage of their home course to lead the standings with overall points of 403 over Queens Park with 387 and Greenacres with 373.
In the individual results, Andrew Ward. Tony Chadderton and Paul Adams (all Invercargill members) all recorded 40 points each in the Men’s Seniors 0-12 section, their fellow clubmate Michael Horn scored 42 points in the Men’s 13-18 section and Queens Park’s Rua Kamaru top-scored in the Men’s 19+ section with 43 points. Joan Milne (Invercargill) was the best scoring female for the day, with 43 points.
Southland Junior Strokeplay
The Southland Junior Strokeplay Championships were played at SBS Bank Invercargill Golf Club last week. George Prendergast (Te Anau) was the overall Gross Winner of the 18-hole tournament, while Oliver Piggott (Greenacres) was the Nett Winner over runner-up Liam Frost (Invercargill).
Charlotte Robinson (Invercargill) won the nine hole girls competition and Will Carson (Gore) won the nine hole boys competition.
