Champion of Champions

Robyn Boniface has won the Golf Southland Champion of Champions, which was played at Queens Park on Monday. Robyn was named with Silver Gross Champion with two rounds of 79, over runner-up Robyn Pullar (Invercargill), who had one round of 79 and another of 80.

The Bronze Gross Champion was Lenore Harvey (Greenacres), over runner-up Raewyn Hartley (Invercargill).

The Gross Stabelford Rosebowl winners were Invercargill (Robyn Pullar, Heather Chadderton and Fiona Bell), and runners-up were Queens Park (Robyn Boniface, Helen Ischia and Linda Suddaby).

Golf Southland/Bowmont Meats 4BBB

It came down to countback, but the Gore pairing of Sandra Speden and Margaret Davidson were the winners of the Golf Southland/Bowmont Meats 4BBB, played at Greenacres last week.

Joanne Purdue and Julieanne Mexted (Greenacres) were runners up, after finishing tied with 45 points, and Helen Baird and Rosemary Vickery (Dipton) were third.

Southland Primary School Champions

The final of the Golf Southland Primary School Zone Tournaments was played at Drummond last week; the culmination of a month of zone tournaments that produced a lot of fun and a lot of good golf from the region’s youngest golfers.

The winners of the Year 7/8 section were the Northern Southland team of Mackenzie Herrick, Kirsten Armitage, Josh Lowe and Cody Lowe. Runners-up were the Dipton Red team of Charlie Standish, Ella Hewitt, Matthew Cookson and Taine Withy, and third place went to the Drummond team of Cormac Marron, Carey McKenzie, Khali Booth and Anvil Fraser.

Winners of the Novice Trophy (up to Year 6) were the Windsor North 1 team of Aneeka Fosbender, Blake McAuley, Javern Hardy and Lars Meehan. Runner-up was the Waihopai team of Tilly McDonald, Cooper Byrce, Kevin Bang and Thomas Middleton and third place went to the Windsor North 2 team of Kiah McLean, Jed Muir, Ngaarrgii Walker and Hunter Findlay.

Laing Shield

Nightcaps has kept hold of the Laing Shield after a 4 ½ – 1 ½ win over Dipton in very wet conditions.

Individual results were: Kyle Dobbie lost to Alan Baird 2/1, Brett Dobbie squared with Ken Todd, Stu Dobbie beat John Broughton 8/7, Alan Roberts beat Murray Johns 3/2, Stan Todd beat Dave Stuart 1up and Jay Petherick beat Richard Jones 2/1.

Junior Tournament in Riversdale

All juniors are welcome at this Sunday’s (1 December) Junior Tournament at Riversdale Golf Course.

The event will offer juniors the chance to take on nine holes, but is also for children wanting to have a go at golf as some fun games will also be on offer.
