BEEBY, Valmai Jessie:
After a short and courageous battle with cancer, at Ranui Rest Home, Alexandra, aged 83 years. Dearly loved wife of the late Richard, much loved mother of Campbell and Hilary, loved and respected mother-in-law of Karen, much loved and respected Grandma of Wade and Hayley, Trent and Sophie, and Great-Grandma of the late Stella Wren. A service to celebrate Valmai’s life will be held at The Orchard Garden, 576 Dunstan Road, Alexandra, on Saturday, May 8, at 11.00am, then leaving for Alexandra Cemetery. In accordance with Valmai’s love of lime green it would be appreciated if you could wear something green. A very sincere thank you to Leigh and the team at Ranui for their amazing care of Valmai. BUTSON, Annie Kathleen (Ann), nee Sherriff:
Passed away peacefully at Invercargill, on Friday 30 April 2021, age 96 years. Dearly loved wife and best friend of the late Ian. Much loved mum and mother-in-law of Denise and Ferg McDowell, Sandra and Keith Jenkins, Sheryll and Garry Buchanan. Loved nana of Lisa, Brett and Kushana; Bevan and Givanna, Larissa; Mark and Rachel, Paul and Tori, Tracey and Travis; loved great nana to Deegan, and Max; Isla, and Jimmy; Izaria, and Albie; and Jai. Ann’s family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Cargill Rest Home and Vickery Court for their care of Ann and her family. As per Ann’s wishes, a private family service will be held. DOUGLAS, Althea Maree:
Suddenly at Southland Hospital, from Bainfield Park Residential Care, on Saturday 24th April 2021; aged 58 years. Dearly loved daughter of Shirley and the late Syd Douglas, loved sister of the late Steven Douglas, and a much loved friend and relative who will be sadly missed. GARDINER, Raymond Arthur (Ray):
(formerly of N.S.W).
Peacefully on April 28, 2021, at Rowena Jackson Retirement Village, aged 94 years. Dearly loved husband of Ruth for the last 69 years. Much loved father and father-in-law of Leonie and Clive Beer, Ian and Elizabeth, Nick and Sue, the late Alison and Marc Stimson. Much loved grandad of Rachel, Timothy and Simon, Bradley, Christopher and Matthew, Shayne, Sharon and Aidan, and great-grandad of 10. Much loved brother of *Margaret, Judy and *Trevor, and brother-in-law of Gloria and Thelma. A much loved uncle and great-uncle.
Special thanks to the staff at Rowena Jackson for their care and support during Ray’s
last three weeks.
A private funeral service will be held.

MCLEOD, Kathleen (Joan):
After a courageous battle with COPD on Wednesday 28 April 2021, at Ascot Care Home and with family by her side. Dearly loved sister and sister-in-law of Alistair and Heather, and Doug and Gail McLeod, loved aunty of Debbie Hodges, Donna Smith, Jacinda Reid, Carla Fisher, and Brad McLeod, loved and respected grand aunty to her eight grand nieces and nephews. A very special friend of Xavier Reid.
“Will be sadly missed”
A service for Joan will be held in the Avenal Park Chapel, 75 Fox Street Invercargill on Monday 3 May at 2.00pm, private cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers donations to Hospice Southland would be appreciated and may be left at the service. Joan’s family would like to thank the staff of Bupa Ascot Care home for their care and consideration shown to Joan over the last four months in particular. McDONALD Ken Francis:
After months of support from family and  friends, Ken passed away peacefully with his family at his side at Hospice Southland on Wednesday 28th April 2021, aged 63 years. Loved son of the late Angus and Jean.
Dearly loved father and father in law of Anna and Josh Campbell, and James. Loved brother and brother in law of Ian* and Yvonne, Barry and Anne (Hastings), Jeanette and David Dickson (Gold Coast). Loved Uncle and Great Uncle of all his nieces and nephews. Family wish to sincerely thank many carers from Healthcare NZ and Hospice Southland for their devoted care of Ken. Ken was an instrumental member of staff at SIT for 32 years. A farewell for Ken will be held on Monday 3rd May, 1pm at the Ascot Park Hotel, Invercargill.  A private cremation will follow. REYNOLDS, Evan Charles Lionel:
On Wednesday, April 28, 2021. At Fiona Stanley Hospital Fremantle. Loved Dad and father-in-law of Joss and Spinner (Ian) Smith (Cromwell), Fiona and Brian Wilson (Perth), loved Grandad of the late Brodie (Reunited again) and Hayden. Best friend of Michelle. Long time friend of Pearl and Ray Gentle. As per Evan’s wishes his body has been donated for science to Fremantle University.

RODAN, Hazel Gibson Mary (nee Wilson):
Passed away peacefully at Hospice Southland on Sunday 25th April 2021, in her 89 th year. Loved mother and mother-in-law of Pauline, Desley and Gratten* Layne, Luana and Bruce Molloy, John*, Sharalyn and Sid Cumming, and Peter, much loved Nana Rodan of all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Thanks to the Medical Ward, Rose Lodge and Hospice Southland for Mum’s care. At Hazel’s request, a private service has been held. Messages to 131 St Andrew Street, Invercargill 9810.

WHAU WHAU Patricia Clare (Pat) nee Woods:
It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we advise Pat passed away at Southland Hospital Rehabilitation Ward on Thursday 22 April 2021. Aged 82 years.
Loved eldest daughter of the late Priscilla and Albert Woods.
Loved sister of Vorn (Australia) and the late James.
A Memorial Service will be held for Pat at a later date.

Barbara, Christine, Mervyn and families would like to express our sincere thanks to all who supported us at the time of Mum’s sudden passing. 20.3.1948 – 3.4.2021
Rachel, Melissa and Liam and their families would like to thank everyone who has shown their kindness, sympathy and support since Brian’s passing. He was a wonderful and dearly loved Dad, Grandad, brother and uncle. We have truly appreciated hearing from everyone who has got in touch since his passing. We are also thankful to those who attended Brian’s funeral in Invercargill, whether in person or online; we really appreciate the effort you made to be there. A heartfelt thank you to the staff at Lake Wakatipu Care Home, and those at Southland Hospital who cared for Brian this year. Special thanks to Michele and her colleagues at Access, Lizzie and Susie from Saving Grace, and Duncan at Age Concern Queenstown, who all supported Dad in his final year. 30.06.1950 – 19.03.2021
Sharon and family wish to sincerely thank relatives, friend, and neighbours for their words of comfort. Thank you all for the visits, cards, flowers, plants, food and beautiful baking during our sad loss of Gordon. Special thank you for Barbara Frew for taking the lovely service: Hammond and Ryder for all your help. The Heriot PTA for the afternoon tea and everyone who attended the service.
