Passed away peacefully, after an illness and a long battle with his health, on Wednesday, 24 February 2021, aged 78 years. Loving husband and soul mate of Helen for 55 years, dearly loved Dad and father-in-law of Karen Affleck and Sarah Buxton, John and Maria Affleck, Jo and Guy Michaels, loved and fun Grandad of Rebecca, Ben; AJ, Nakita; Nic, Hayden, and Grace. A loved brother and uncle of his extended family. As per Gary’s wishes a private graveside gathering will be held by invitation. Special thanks to those that have been involved in Gary’s care over the years and in particular recently. McKNIGHT, Warren Jack:
Passed away in Ashburton on February 22, 2021, aged 88. Dearly loved husband of Lois for 65 years. RICHARDSON, Helen (nee Dalzell):
On February 25th, aged 82. Helen died peacefully in the care of Calvary Hospital, with her husband by her side. Dearly loved wife of Peter Richardson and loved mother and mother-in-law of Louise Richardson and David Cowie, Philip and Teresa Richardson, Simon Richardson and Tracey Wayte. She was much-loved by her grandchildren: William, and Isabella Cowie, Harrison Windram, and Dominic, and Lewis Richardson. She was also a very special sister, sister- in-law, aunt, great-aunt, godmother, friend and neighbour. Helen is being cremated in a private family service, in accordance with her wishes. Please email Peter.r@xtra.co.nz , for information about joining with us for a celebration of Helen’s incredibly rich and energetic life at a venue and time to be decided. Cut flowers only please, and donations to Calvary Hospital Dementia Village would be much appreciated. The Richardson family would also like to thank the wider community of friends who have supported Helen and Peter during the long and uncertain duration of Helen’s illness. Their cheese rolls, casseroles, soups, and gardening-hours have been very much appreciated throughout, and Helen’s final days at Calvary were made much easier by the warm and loving care that she received there.
