BANKIER, Michael John (Mike):
On January 15, 2021. Dearly loved husband of Ruth, adored father of Samuel (Sam) (Port Hedland, Western Australia), Thomas (Tom) (Leederville, Perth), treasured Grandpa Mike of Aria (Port Hedland), dearly beloved brother and brother-in-law of Faye and Brian Jenkins (Christchurch), Joanne and Brent Eades (Queensland); John and Robyn Willett (Invercargill), Albert and Sandy Willett (Sydney), Janette and Neil Challis (Christchurch) and the late Deborah Willett. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and volunteers at the Otago Community Hospice, Dr Dave Mackay and the team at Helensburgh Medical Practice, and St John Ambulance for all their care and support. At Mike’s request a private cremation has been held. A celebration of Mike’s life will be held at a later date. CHARTRES, Jean (nee Annand):
In her 93rd year, on January 20, 2021. Peacefully, in the loving care of family and staff of Elmslie House, Wanaka. Previously of Te Anau and Waipukurau. Loved wife of the late Harold. Much loved mother and mother-in-law of John (deceased), Sam and Lynne Chartres (Wanaka), Beverley and Kevin Healan (Sydney), Sue Chartres and Robert Skilton (Te Anau), and special Grannie to grandchildren Kelvin and Belinda, Rachel and Mark, Ben and Ellie, Kimberly, Nicola and Carrie. Special great-grannie to Caleb, and Daniel; Tyler, Morgan, and Carter; Madi; Lucy, Finn, Georgia, and Ollie; Georgia; and baby Jessica. Special friend to Mary Chartres and Carol Orbell. A special thanks to Jean’s other family, staff of Elmslie House, for their lovely care to Jean. At Jean’s request, a private service will be held. STAFFORD, Christopher Vincent (Staf):
Passed away peacefully in Australia on Monday, January 18, 2021, after a long battle with cancer, aged 64. Dearly loved son of Lorna* and Vince*, dearly loved brother and brother-in-law of Shirley and Kevin Dickson (Wanaka), Geoff*, Lynne and David Dickie (Gore), Debbie and Tony Smail (Christchurch), Jimmy (Brisbane), awesome uncle, cousin and friend to many. Huge thanks to cousin Nicky, we can never show you enough gratitude. A service is being held in Australia, Saturday, January 23, at 4.00pm NZDT. SMITH, Kathryn (nee Gardyne):
Peacefully after a short illness at Rowena Jackson Retirement Village, on Wednesday, 20 January 2021, aged 73 years. Beloved wife of George (Tamlet) for 51 years, much loved mother and mother-in-law of Hamish and Karen (Mimihau), Mark and Jessica (Napier), Carolyn Stennard (Cyprus), Carmen (Auckland), Ainslie and Andrew Bruce (Invercargill), and loved grandmother of Caleb, Cassie; Kyla, Georgia, Elsie, Joel; Mackenzie, and Riley. A service to celebrate Kathryn’s life will be held at St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Ardwick Street, Gore, on Tuesday, 26 January at 11:00 am, followed by interment at Wyndham Cemetery at 3:00pm. Donations may be left at the service for St John Ambulance.
