Event Details

After a record breaking breeding season, the Kākāpō Recovery Team are hand rearing some of this year’s most vulnerable kākāpō chicks. This is your opportunity to see a kākāpō up close before the chicks return to their predator free sanctuaries.

Within your half hour time slot you will spend 10mins in the viewing room of a group of 10-12 people. We thank you in advance for your patience while everyone in your allocated time slots gets a chance to view the chicks.

For the wellbeing of the chicks, we ask that noise levels are kept low and no photos are taken during the viewing sessions.

Tickets:
Tickets can be purchased from Invercargill i-SITE.

Prices:
$10 for adults
$2 for young people aged 5-18
Under 5’s free

All proceeds are directly donated to Kākāpō Recovery Programme to help ensure the survival of these precious chicks.

Please meet at 33 Don Street, Cue on Don building (in front of large umbrella).

Do you own birds or chickens?
If you have pet birds or chickens, please ensure you shower before coming to the viewing and do not handle your birds in the hours leading up to the viewing. Diseases can spread very easily and we want to ensure the health and safety of these precious chicks.
