8:30 am - 4:30 pm
55 Elles Road,
I’ll be running my first Invercargill Intro to Freediving Course on Saturday 23 November. The course will give you all the information you need to get started in freediving, including safety, physiology, the opportunity to see how long you can hold your breath, plus improve your technique for duck diving, equalisation and swimming under water.
The plan for the day:
8:30am meet at the INVERCARGILL BRIDGE CLUB (you can walk across the railway tracks from the pool car park) for theory and breathing technique
Then we’ll head over to the pool for statics (time based breath holds) after which we’ll break for a BYO lunch.
After lunch we’ll run through depth skills in the pool including equalisation, technique and safety, followed by Dynamics in the pool (swimming distance underwater) including swim techniique and training ideas. Finishing up with a debrief in the spa just after 4pm. Plan to be all finished up and changed by 5pm.
You can see a bit more info plus complete the forms online here: https://forms.gle/6mVHj8FaqCgNcTaUA
There are limited places available. Please confirm your spot by completing the forms and paying a $60 deposit (course cost is $190). Info on the form (linked above). Please run through forms early in case you need a medical certificate from your doctor.
The course will not give you an official certification but will give you similar knowledge and everything you need to get started training with the Queenstown Freediving Club. You’ll get a signed book to take with you if you ever need proof that you’ve completed a formal course.
I run these courses as a fundraiser to cover some of the costs incurred by my sport and to give back to the community. Hope you can make it. Please feel free to get in touch if you have any questions.
