Crop Swap Invercargill brings together backyard gardeners, home bakers and food foragers for swapping and sharing high quality local food on a monthly basis.
We swap things like produce, plants, seedlings, flowers, worms, kombucha, jams, chutneys, eggs, seeds, baking, nuts etc.
Crop Swap Ethics include:
1. Everyone Brings Something to hare.
2. Give Generously, Take Mindfully
3. Welcome and Support One Another
4. Everything’s Free, No Money Involved
5. We Tidy up Together
6. Bring Healthful, Nourishing Food
7. Take your Time, Keep Others in Mind
You must be able to identify everything you bring- just for safety. 🙂
Crop Swaps take around 45 mins. We show up, mingle for 15 mins, then the swap is officially opened by one of our guardians and people introduce themselves and what they brought (not at all compulsory) because people often bring exotic things, we like to learn about them, you can then move around the table, taking mindfully of everything available, so there’s some for everyone, this takes around 20 mins, then we clean up together. We don’t tend to fluff around too much.
Hope to see you there! If you are shy or nervous about coming, you can contact me beforehand, and I can meet you there.. so you’re not walking into a room of strangers! 🙂 We are a very friendly bunch though. 🙂
